Default How to keep your rings shiny.....

Following on from Amar's thread ( http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=15719 ) about the placement of missing boot rings and badges....
As well as realising my S8 badge was misplaced I also noticed the rings were grubby and surrounded by a horrible hard patina on the adjacent paint.

Then I remembered refurbishing some wheel caps a few years ago where the chrome 4-rings logos were equally encased in hardened crud.

The solution there (literally a solution!) was descaler. It brought them up shiny as new!
We live in a very hard water area and even though we have a water softener descaler solutions get regular use.
In this case it was HG Hagesan Blue which I buy in semi-industrial quantities and then "dilute as instructed".

It was very effective on my grotty-looking rings today (cunningly cropped from all photos of my boot badges) so I can at least show you the outcome after literally 2 minutes of work - spray on, sponge gently, rinse off and wipe dry! They were truly horrible before.
They still need a bit more attention to be perfect, maybe more descaler and an old toothbrush, but it's a massive improvement.
