Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.). 2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!  Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. This is what I have done five minutes ago, this is a quick fix.
Depends how bad are your tips, it may require more time with the polish Before After WD40, then apply autosol They I fold the cloth like that and wrap it around the tip. Left hand on left side, right hand on right side and then pulling each end down in sequence left right left right for the quickest result. Done

Good result, but as D2 S8 tips are joined (more a figure of 8 or infinity symbol for purists) you can't wrap a cloth round, so a bit of a PITA as it's at the join it's worst.
Mine are MUCH worse than that, so I've had a little test and fine wire wool is shifting the baked on black crud. After that Brasso followed by Silvo seems to bring up a good sheen. Just need to wait for the dampness to dissipate and I'll attack it more seriously.

Another couple of products I've used before are toothpaste and bathroom cleaner (the mildly abrasive cream type).
In fact (inspired by Dremel comments in another thread) I'm off to investigate how an electric toothbrush with either of the above works in the awkward corners.....

The only thing that really worked on the tough bits was wire wool soaked in abrasive bathroom cleaner.
After that I cleaned up and finished off with Brasso and Silvo. Interesting to look at the D2 S8 tips close up though, they're fairly obviously "hand crafted" with the brazing and grinding marks more obvious on the underside. Given the minor surface imperfections I decided that, apart from aggressive chemical treatment followed by heavy grinding and polishing, an unblemished finish would be impossible. Looks a lot better nonetheless.
