Yeah, it's not bad at all. My tyre guy gets good discount because he always takes there around 10sets of wheels and they work over the weekend and monday tuesday.

I see most seem to prefer using grey rather than black. I was thinking that using black would bring it a little more uptodate. The grey blends away without giving a contrast. Is it a preference for the original look or are you thinking that the black would spoil the look?

My current leaning is Damond cut with black. I know that there are potential issues with longevity, but if looked after they look quite stunning. The place I am using do the painted version, but I was wondering whether that would just look cheaper rather than classy.

Am taking the car in Monday so I lose the car for a week (woohoo), then get a door re-sprayed (a previous repray of the door and front wing by a garage was poor) and the bubbling boot trim re-sprayed and the whole car machine polished with 2 wax applications including a sealer to make it gleam.

Whose idea was a meet anyway? It's costing me a fortune..........

You know what, when I read your post I asked my self, when did I wrote it?? It's like reading my own minds and I'm going through same stages now.

I was thinking about black for a looooooooooong time. wanted updated look, but I end up keeping it 'classy' -ish. GHrey metalic as you said will blend in nicely without a big contrast, way much better look for a car like a A8. On a Mitsubishi Lancer I wouldn't think twice probably, but on a 8 gunmetal metalic grey with diamond cut for me
Plus it takes slightly longer to notice brake pads dust

MAM, it would be nice to see what wheels you've got...

I dropped my car yesterday and I'm picking up Wednesday and it already feels weird, very weird, almost confusing

I'd like to ask same question about who's idea that was to meet ???
Little fortune on my end as well. At the minute my cost to attend is £2,8k!!!!!! ...and at this stage it still looks like I'll be sleeping in the car due to hotels being fully booked already (chances of me attending are now 80% and that's since just this week as it was unknown until then hence no booking made)

I wouldn't get your hopes up as they are just the vanilla A8 alloys with about 12 spokes that are on many an A8 - not an aftermarket. I was far more adventurous with my old car, but the A8 does not suit going mad on the extras. For my old car I spent months searching and sourced some stunning OZ Antares alloys which suited it perfectly, but would not work on an 8.

I like these standard alloys, but I think I am getting them done in Black to be both different and because I think that it will slim the spokes down substantially as there is not much free space on these alloys.

One important thing I forgot.......

You know when you are looking at the big things, the little things sometimes escape your first thoughts......

Centre caps. I either do:

a questionable refurb on them with some chrome spray and masking tape (Have had a quick go and found that ignoring the outer ring, the masking tape starts removing the grey paint due to the age),

buy some cheap import ones

re-mortgage and visit Mr Audi at probably £25-35 each...

oops - best dig deep.

I ordered a set of "replica" caps from China/Aliexpress, £36 for the set. Very happy with the quality. OEM Audi ones are £35 each.

Well, that's the car dropped off and me on my bike for a week. Part 1 begins.

As Scarborough is pot-hole city I think it will have to be the mountain bike so I don't kill the racer (and my butt)
