Default MMI help pls....

Hi all.
Bought my D3 last week and today was my first proper journey in her (Just taxed today).
My question..
This is my 2nd D3, so I'd like to think I am fairly familiar with the MMI operating system, however....
When I selected 'CAR', then 'Systems', Audi parking system and interior lighting were not showing in the drop down list.
Also, the 'USER' that should be in the top left corner of the screen was not there either?
I don't think the car has been updated software wise, as there is no 3D option with the map. However, that doesn't explain the lack of previously mentioned items in the list? Unless I'm doing something wrong.
Any ideas?
How much (roughly) would a software update cost and is it a dealer only procedure?
Thanks

If you are missing 3d maps it sounds like you need a firmware update.

I did mine myself. Bought the discs for <£30 from eBay (part number 4E0 060 884 DK). It took the best part of two hours, IIRC. Pretty easy though, if very boring.

Hi Greg.
I see what you're saying, but, it should still have the options there - surely?
How can they disappear?
I see someone has put an informative write up on installing the update CDs.
I will pursue this option soon.
This is my first drive in the car today and I didn't pick up on the MMI thing during the test drive. Nevermind.

Chris

I assume the parking sensors are working ok.

If the car does not have keyless ignition then there is no user menu, instead it uses a combination of the keys and the memory buttons in the fold out door storage.

There is a hidden menu where you can add and remove options from the car menu, however it is possible to break the MMI altogether if you select the wrong thing. From the car menu, press and hold car and setup at the same time and a menu should appear.

Do not select anything in the menu to do with bootloader, it will end in tears.

You need to register first nowadays and find some instructions on the web as there are mistakes that can be made..

3D maps is for the 3G MMI not the 2G right?

2G MMI does 3D as well, mine running the latest firmware has it. 3D does not need the latest maps either, it works just the same on the 2003 disc as the 2009 one.

Maybe the user options only come up if you have the fingerprint reader, because the settings relate to registering fingers to store settings etc.

Pretty sure my current D3 doesn't have it as it has only the button start and not fingerprint, though the PF had it with fingerprint.

The 2D/3D view option is somewhere in the Nav/Setup options. The only grumble I have with it is that it doesn't show the street names in 3D, only 2D.
