I won't ask for money until I've secured the tours and paid for them. Probably end of this month/early next

My parents are from Yorkshire, so I consider the Scots to be real amateurs in the mean stakes!

Thought some of you guys might like to see this:

http://www.shell.co.uk/gbr/products-...m-warning.html

"The A82 is exactly the sort of road a car needs to stretch its legs. Fast, well sighted and blessed with a great variety in altitude changes, it gives you a safe environment in which to enjoy your driving.

There’s no shopping or traffic here, though. It’s hard to believe how sparsely populated the Highlands are. Having these roads and the surrounding scenery to yourself makes the region one of Europe’s hidden gems for driving enthusiasts."

Now, it'll be busier in June, for sure, but it's a shame that Shell don't even know where their own filling stations are:

"Glasgow or Fort William are the nearest pitstop locations, so if you’re visiting, be sure to fill up with Shell fuel in Glasgow before venturing further north."

There's a Shell station at the Waitrose supermarket in Helensburgh (close to Loch Lomond, just off the A82), even if the Shell pertrol station locator on their web site doesn't acknowledge it.

I'm hoping Tesco in Oban might have some, but not that hopeful.....

Apart from that Erskine looks to be the nearest Shell for those coming from the South - I think we used that on our last trip.

Yes, Erskine is probably the easiest and least out of your way, but Helensburgh is the most northerly Shell station until Fort William. It's easy to find, on the A814 as you come into the town, at the Waitrose supermarket. If you leave the A82 for Dumbarton and simply follow the road, you can't miss it. Then back onto the A82 on the other side of Helensburgh. A tankful should get you through the weekend and well on the way back home.
