Default Windscreen demist procedure

In previous cars I usually just put the air flow to the upwards position and this was enough to demist the windscreen unless it was really bad, in which case it needed a quick blip of the the full windscreen demist setting.

On the A8, the screen really only clears when I hit the demist button. It's a bit of a pain having to hit it all the time in bursts rather than having a more gentle continuous flow in an alternative setting.

Is there a way round this that I'm missing? There doesn't seem to be away to have the demist button activated but reduce the fan.

You can change the direction of the air and adjust the fan speed.

But that kind of takes away from Auto mode.

If I read it right, the HVAC should detect a misting screen and adjust the vents, air, heat accordingly to clear the screen.
