Default Air con oil? Denso oil compulsory?

I need your help please.
I went to ATS Euromaster to get my aircon re-charged using a Groupon, but the service manager told me he couldnt do it because their system says Audi must use Denso oil, and they use PAG oil. He was worried about damaging my car.
Is this true, does it really have to be this Denso oil?

Now I know many of you have had your aircon re charged using independent garages, have all of them had this Denso oil? Or is this PAG oil fine?

If its fine I'll just re-book with Euromaster. I dont really want to pay Dealer prices just to get Denso oil.

Thanks in advance.

Interesting. I've never heard of that - I have PAG in all mine. Obviously Denso oil is 4-10 times the price of generic PAG!

Also interesting, this link suggests that Denso oil is still PAG, but possibly a different grade to the generic stuff: http://www.denso-am.co.uk/news-event...t-oil-matters/

Had mine done ATS, KwikFit and, last time, by Audi. It works well.
Audi prices are not that far off the independents plus they do a bacteria killing thing, to clean out the airways, while they are at it.
This is the first I've heard about a specific lube being required.
It's worth remembering that you can always haggle (negotiate in Audi speak) with the Audi service dept

Thanks for confirming
I thought it would be fine. Mikki's post gave me an idea so I went off and searched, looks like Facelift D2 compressor is a Denso 7SE unit which appears to take Denso PAG 46 density oil. Rang ATS and asked them what grade is their PAG oil, they said 46. So it seems it should be fine. Re booked with them for next Monday.
Audi fixed servicing aircon is £79 I believe, not sure I could haggle them down to £28 which I paid for the groupon.

I must have done some research then, since PAG 46 is what I have on the shelf

That puts my mind at ease even more
Whats so special about Denso's oil apart from the brand name? I wonder if even the Audi dealer use Denso oil, dont they also outsource aircon service to other companies?
