Smile Winter tyres on d3 S8 - experience of Yoko Advan sport?

Hi Folks,

Just fitted 18" winter wheels and 235 50 18 winter tyres to my S8. Was worried that the clearance around front disks/calipers may be a bit tight, but with my steel disks they fit very snugly with no fouling. Pictures below.

Time to get my 20" rims refurbished and new tyres fitted. Have done 18000 miles on Bridgestone Potenza RE50A tyres. About to try Yokohama Advan sports standard size, 265 35 20 in spring. Anyone else using these and if so, what is wet grip and noise level like? Car has now done 77,000 miles and is going like a train.

Thanks

Richard

I find the Yokohamas noisier than the Bridgestones. They are quiet when new but noisier as they ware.
I feel the Yoko'a are gripper and have no problem with either in the wet

I've been running Yokies and they are a) bloody noisy and b) I got naff-all mileage out of them

They are however grippy! (Take a long time to become "good" in the wet though-not a confidence giver but I've never found Yokies any good in the wet)

I can't compare to the bridgestones as I've not had them.

I wouldn't buy them again though, not unless I could throw money away as I pleased.

David, the rim code is 4E0 601 025Q with size 7.5J X 18H2 ET40. Car came with these rims from the factory for winter and 4E0 601 025N 8.5J X 19H2 ET45 for summer.

Sorry for late reply.

I'm currently running Yoko Advan's on my car, not noisy as some I've used, and the grip level is pretty good.

I'll report on wear later.
