That's not an action plan - it's the promise of a future action plan. A "wait and see notice" only...

If I had one of these vehicles I would be VERY worried what "corrected" means.

I can foresee software changes that could potentially mean that a vehicle would in future fail an MOT test that it wouldn't otherwise.........

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions, ski hatch retrofit; extended leather. Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.).
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Or would be below the ordered specification (I.e. Less power). I wouldn't be a happy camper on either case.

Happened to meet my part-time MOT tester mate last night. He said MOT failure was extremely unlikely as NOx was not part of the test.

But changes in performance and fuel economy were pretty likely and he'd want to know a hell of a lot more before allowing VW to "update" the diesel Golf he drives as a runabout!

Default Poor old VAG...

I must admit, I was starting to feel some sympathy for VAG (they got caught, but they're not the only guilty ones…). That was until it became clear that they only withdrew the "affected stock" of 4000 vehicles yesterday, after the busy September sales month was over. That smacks of cynical self-interest, so I'm feeling a bit less sympathetic now.

It also looks as if nearly as many Audis as VWs are affected, based on the "action plan" notice posted above.

Its moving on from just cars as well, it looks like some brands of Television also have software that recognises the tests used for determining their energy ratings and alter their power consumption during the test.

It's everything that uses standard benchmarks to a greater or lesser extent. You always get special units or soecial software/configurations for the benchmarks

Looking at the massive drop in stock value I'd say this is most likely all a money making scheme and someones going to get unbelievably rich when they bounce back up.Bit like the BP stock after the spillage in the golf.

Other manufacturers are trying to cash in on this. I got this email from Ford this morning:
FORD EMISSIONS COMMITMENT
Given the worldwide attention and news coverage related to diesel emissions tests, we at Ford want to make sure our position on these key issues is clear.
First, our vehicles and engines – including our advanced-technology diesel engines – meet all applicable emissions requirements. Importantly, we do not have any so‑called “defeat devices” in our vehicles.
We also fully support efforts to ensure that test procedures more closely match the real‑world conditions that customers experience under normal driving. That is why we have supported the development of a European Real Driving Emissions initiative that is going into law in Europe.
Ford is committed to offering customers high fuel efficiency and low emissions through what we call the “power of choice.” We offer a variety of choices ranging from our EcoBoost-powered petrol vehicles and advanced technology diesels to hybrids, plug-in hybrids and full electric vehicles.
Visit www.ford.co.uk or your local FordStore or Ford dealer to learn more about Ford’s newest vehicles, technology and our commitment to Go Further.
