Default intermittent DVB sound

I've been having this problem since I got the car. When the vehicle is in motion, the sound from the DVB broadcast cuts out intermittently. I'm not really sure where to start. The DVD and DAB audio are both fine, and the DVB picture is also fine. Any suggestions?

Do you get a symbol (transmitter and speaker crossed out) flash up in the top right to say no audio due to low signal quality? (see attachment).
The tuner mutes it due to the shrill chirps and pops etc.. that would result from the damaged data stream.

No, I don't get the symbol, the audio just cuts out, as if muted

The sound is sent over the MOST bus via fibre optic cable, but if the MOST ring broke, I would expect the whole lot to go down. Is the TV a factory fit? Has anything else been retrofitted on the MOST bus?

DVB is crap when actually travelling, and the audio always cuts out first, which is really annoying as it makes it virtually useless in a car.

Not like Analogue TV where the picture went first, but the sound was generally ok.

The modern DVB tuners in Audis' are rubbish. Unless you're stuck in heavy London traffic with a strong signal and little traffic movement, I'd not bother with the TV at all in motion....

I don't have TV in motion in the front, but I did want to let the kids use it on the RSE (my bizarre, autistic 8-year-old son wants to watch the news on the way to school in the morning ).

As far as I know, the DVB I have is factory fitted. Everything else seems fine, so perhaps it really is just crappy reception. Is there any mileage in replacing the aerial or the receiver, or is it just not worth it?

All that I can suggest is to check the aerial signals. There are four aerials for TV.
I must admit that I do have mixed reception whilst travelling, varies from brilliant down to breaking up. Outside ours no signal at all but there is a large mill at the back in direct line of the transmitter, 20 yards away the signal comes in and at 100 yards a really good reception.
Main thing is that I can watch the news whilst management is shopping in the local ASDA

It's not worth changing the aerials unless you've £££'s to spend. I find different channels have better or worse reception, whether that is down to what multiplex it's on I don't know.

I have only had mine a couple of weeks. It is really ropey just about everywhere I go in my own neighbourhood due to the lie of the land. In flatish Lincolnshire it is perfect mile after mile. When the audio cuts out though I get a symbol in the top right of a speaker crossed out and if the picture cuts out, their is a rectangle crossed out.
