Default Winter defrost while car locked hack?

Hi on my previous A8 2006 model I was able to start engine keylessly and get out of car and lock it using the soft close button on the door handles - great for unattended warming/defrosting car on winter mornings.

On my current A8 2007 model where only one of the soft door lock buttons work, I'm not able to lock the car with engine running. Was this a strange fault with my previous audi that allowed this? Or is there a VCDS hack to enable this?

thanks

I had the joy of getting in my frosty car on Monday, and having the heated windscreen clear it in under a minute. Far better than the heated screen on my old S-Max.

There are some differences (even between our 06 models) but I don't understand enough to know what exactly would allow the engine on door lock.

cheers

Do you have 'set up ' on the climate panel go into that can you see aux heating option , if it has you can do a modification to put it to a timed function but you need to fit a auxillary water pump and a couple of pipes to the aux heater unit and do some coding . There's a thread on it somewhere .

I have done this to my car ( 4.2 tdi ) it's superb , I set it for 30 min run before I go out in the morning , all windows demisted and the cars toasty warm inside , one of the best mods to do on the car in my opinion

Sounds like a really nice feature, but never saw any option for it in the mmi setup.
