Had one a few years ago when my then boss (ex-England captain) rang me to tell me he nearly got killed as the accelerator got stuck on the M1....

I checked it when he got in, it had got stuck under the mat as he had managed to u clip the mat at some point.

Who said footballers have no brains?

Happened to me a few times back in the days of throttle cables, due to the cable becoming frayed and getting jammed.

With modern fly-by-wire throttle pedals, I would guess it's likely to be one of two things: A faulty throttle potentiometer or a mechanical problem with the pedal itself (broken spring, sticking pedal, etc). Did the pedal feel any different when it stuck?

If there was an electronic problem, the throttle system is designed to failsafe to zero - applying the brake will also override throttle demand.

Sounds most likely to be a linkage issue or a carpet mat getting in the way. Frightening either way when it happens in something with enough grunt to very quickly get you into trouble!

Don't remember which car it was but I had one where clutch pedal was getting stuck in the carpet if I pressed it too hard.

Pedal feels totally normal
I don't see carpet being the problem its perfectly fitted to the floor
I'll check with engine off the full movement

I'm at home today if you want it scanned Borys. You can check pedal travel value and do basic settings which may identify a problem if it's out of range of acceptable values

I would also check at the top end of the pedal box to see if there's anything getting caught or in the way up there - it has been known!

Nothing showing on fault scan for throttle body or sensor problems - the carpet mat is looking the most likely cause as doesn't appear to be genuine Audi and may just be capable of catching the pedal.

Lovely car
