Default d2 a8 radio swap

hello everyone. im new to my a8 but not to vag and still have my by a4 but off road. anyhow.
my 1997 a8 came with the single din audi delta radio but no cd changer. there is a plug in the boot but its in bad shape and not sure it will work if i buy a player. full of verdi gris.

i really want to up grade the set as its a bit iffy anyway as it crackles on volume.

i want to keep it oem what can i put in there that will fit the slot.

i have been looking at the older concerts but unsure if it will fit.

The Concert should fit as it is standard fit after some point around 97 / 98. Not sure on connections, plugs or any of that. I'm sure the head units can be Bose'd if you have it.

Have you tried calling our sponsors (banner at the top of the page)?
They usually have a selection of units they have removed from the vehicles they have dismantled

i have found out that my old set has all the speaker connections in the back for the iso plug but the new concert has 4 connections and a side connectore for an amp, so that wont work in my car looks like ill have to go aftermarket to get a cd player.
i have an old kenwood mask from the same era just waiting for the side reducing clips for the reduced size din.
wish i still had my vw mfd then all i would have to do is change the dash insert to double din
