Default Cam Belt Costs

Hi All,

I am searching for an A8 (D2) and I was wondering if there would be a great difference in costs to replace the cam belt and bits between a 2.8 and 4.2?

Many Thanks

Neil

The same timing belt is used on the 2.8 and 4.2, any many other VAG engines.

Water pump, thermostat, aux belt will all be similar costs.

Therefore the service cost should be the same! But the price will probably be inflated because it's a V8

Very much not the same I'm afraid. The V8 water pump is ever so slightly different to the V6 so costs twice as much, and the tensioner setup is different too, for no obvious reason (other than VAG sadism) and so also costs twice as much.

If you shop around on ebay you can get a good deal on INA parts though.
