Even more stupid than the BMW pseudo-capacity, e.g. a 140i which is actually a 3-litre turbo.
Though as the owner of a T5 Volvo (actually a 180kW/245PS 2-litre turbo, so a 45 in Audi-speak) that hasn't been debadged, should I comment?

Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.). 2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one! Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later) 1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850! Truly daft - hopefully they'll put more thought into their future product line up.

Seems like the sales & marketing team have got the keys to the company at the moment. Model identification (and HP) used to use visual cues, alu mirror caps, door skirting, different larger wheels, twin exhausts etc. S Line (M Power, AMG badges) diluted that so now a new solution to a self generated problem is needed.

I would think a new way of showing the power output makes sense now that the engine size is going to be less important with hybrid and full electric becoming more commonplace.

Was chatting about this today and it makes sense with power not being proportional to engine size but it also makes sense in the **** fencing arena.
Every toff that knows bugger all about cars will have no difficulty bragging about the bigger number on the back of the car. This alone will encourage sales in higher output configurations.
