Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71) - Mechanical Failure
In the morning the car was free from errors and the below appeared while I was using VCDS. I had the ignition on and engine off then I turned HVAC on to auto, afterwards the fault code was stored and reappeared if cleared.
Anyone else had this? Tomorrow I'll go through the output tests and see if that can move the flaps. Failing that I'll have to remove the flap control motor and see what's what. Code:

Well the car cleared this error by itself. Maybe driving the car this morning unstuck the flaps - that's if they actually were stuck. Who knows as I never got around to doing the output test or taking a look.
If anybody else finds this thread by searching here's some info I read last night. The part number is 4E0820511 for the Position Motor. This is a generic part and is used throughout the HVAC system to open vents, flaps etc... This can be found for about £10 used online. V71 is accessible from the engine bay. Remove the air cabin filter and it's attached to the intake housing. Anyhow, hope the above is useful to somebody with an actual problem with V71
