Default RS6 Buying Advice !

Guys.....

Considering an RS6 and have been looking at these two........ I know there are some very knowledgeable people on here and an opinions on these cars would be very much appreciated ! Prefer the exterior colour of the first but the interior colour of the second. Ha ! Typical !

So basically a general consensus of the descriptions and prices..... oh and if you know of any other really good low mileage cars for sale please feel free to give me the details.... Cheers !

I have read loads about the downsides to these cars on the RS6 FAQ section also !

There's a dolphin grey one at 11995 that looks good - sensible miles and drc removed. Looks like a milltek too

Of the 2 you've posted I'd go for the 2nd but I'd be tempted to try and find one with drc removed and a couple of other worthwhile upgrades. If you can live with caramel leather there's a tidy looking Plus in black but it looks overpriced. Been for sale for quite a while too. You get RNS-e as standard on the plus too

READ this first I run a c5 highly modified RS6...................I love her to bits and there is no other car that can satisfy me at the mo but they are money pits! If you can afford a £1000 for a brake change and a £1000 for cambelts and £120 ish for 300 miles a tank then fine if not don't bother as they might be 10 yrs old but they are still almost supercar prices for repairs

IMB the RS6 Avant is the ultimate ...... In my youth watching Gumball Rally I fell
head over heels in love with this car.....

I have pondered and researched thoroughly the few examples that have been available in my parts ....

The only negative comments about this vehicle I have ever had is that they are money pits ..... make sure you have a healthy bank balance ....

They cost a fortune to maintain ..... but damn I would sell my soul for one ....
but then would on probably be able to sleep in it .... cause I wouldn,t be able to afford to keepthe wheels movig ....

Only had a few replies so far but taking them into consideration along with other things I've read I'm already taking the general consensus to be....... Be extremely fussy about what car you buy and mods are actually a bonus. On that note this one seems to be better reading.....

Adrain where is the 11995 car your talking about ?

Cheers !

Was on my phone earlier when I replied - this is the dolphin grey one that sounded good in the ad

Depending on how recent the work at QST was I can probably find out if it's a good 'un or not

The Plus:

This could also be worth a look:

Its a buyers paradise in the RS6 land at the moment.

Yes, they cost a lot of money to run & maintain, so buying a sorted one is quite important - OR - get it very very cheap.

Mileage isnt so important. You can easily buy a low mileage dog.

The gearbox can easily be toast at 70K, the DRC is a waste of space. Any car with DRC removed and quality coilovers is probably worth nearly a grand more imo. I'm an oem junkie, I hate mods but keeping DRC is a multi-thousand pound repair bill waiting to happen.

Brakes are pricey, tyres add up and consider cambelts and servicing. See when it was all last done as that will cost ££'s.

Xenons, Sat Nav, Electric seats, alcantara roof, Bose, heated rear seats - All standard. Dont get fooled by the 'fully loaded' adverts.

Sunroof, twin pane glass, cross drilled brakes, elecric steering column, rear side airbags, phone prep, folding mirrors etc, these are the main options.

On the plus side, engines are strong although problems with the intercoolers are common.

Personally, I'd only ever go for a black interior, the lighter ones look shabby very quickly, where black wears well. Alcantara is rare, less desirable and subject to bobbling. Probably worth avoiding.

They have 2 fuel pumps and arent affraid to use them. It will literally guzzle fuel, and with a stupidly small tank the range is a bit of a joke. There is no spare wheel, an awful climate system (by A8 standards) and as its mainly built from steel, its heavier and less nimble than its A4 counterparts.

Dont get me wrong, they are Incredible cars, if you can service them, fuel them, insure them, and preferably garage them, then the sound they make is just out of this world, and the performance is stunning and addictive - license losingly addictive.

Otherwise, borrow one for a weekend, get it out of your system and save a fortune

License loosing, that's for sure. Mine does 0-60 in 4 sec dead, and 0-100 in 9.6, Amanda's will be a bit slower than that, anyway. They got me at 66% over the limit. I'd had a week in a company car and was letting off some steam, V8 style. Luckily the copper was in a good mood and after checking the car and insurance/tax/mot my license and inspecting the car in fine detail, explained he was more interested in drink drivers that evening and let me off with a telling off. Lucky isn't the word.
