Well it seems all that glitters isn't gold (or nite blue in this case)

The A8 looked stunning under the carefully chosen lights of the Audi body shop, even in daylight it looked the bogs dollocks, then after a few washes all that fancy glaze they used to bull it up started washing off only to reveal lots of tiny micro scores on the paint. So tonight I decided that a proper detail was required and I've made a start. I am hoping that all my previous hard work I've put into it will allow me a quick turn around and so far it all seems to be going to plan with the roof and almost one side clay-barred, polished and glazed. I'll try and get some pictures tomorrow but here is one taken on my phone for now

Mission accomplished...

Clay Bar, polished, glazes applied

Wax applied and takes around 30 minutes to set, so cuppa tea time

Below the waistline polished

Wheels detailed

Tyres dressed

Can't beat some good old-fashioned rim wax

Final outcome

This is what happens when you have access to a ramp, or maybe I'm coming down with some rare OCD illness I've just cleaned the inside of the tailpipes

A few reflection pictures

The joys of a ramp.

Took the A8 for its annual MOT today and the garage owner was amazed at how the paintwork was looking, he's only seen it about a dozen times and never commented before

Then it was off to the Audi bodyshop as there is a scratch in the drivers door mirror cover. When I contacted them about it via email with a picture they replied saying that it was possible it could have been damaged by themselves so just to book it in for repaint. When the assessor came out to look at the scratch today his first words were "My God, that car looks stunning, what products are you using?" He was blown away with how the car looked after a proper detail and we spent almost half an hour talking detailing products.

Oh and a straight pass at the MOT station with zero advisories
