Default VCDS Feature Coding for D4 A8

I thought it was worth starting a thread of useful VCDS codes here as a reference. I have collected this from various sources, but all have been tested by myself using genuine VCDS as working on my D4 (and a few others too) - but try at your own risk!

I created this post from notes so let me know if you find issues and I will try to help/correct.

There maybe other things have missed, will add as I remember.

I haven't included how to enable video in motion, as that's dangerous and not legal in the UK!

Has anyone anything else to add?

Disable seat belt warning chime
Module 17 – Instruments
Coding - Long Coding Helper -> Byte 0 - Bit 2-4 – Seat Belt Warning inactive

Enable parking brake release without putting seat belt
Module 53 - Parking Brake
Security Access - (Enter code presented by VCDS)
Adaptation - Channel 7 Set to 0

Enable Gauge Test/Needle Sweep
Module 17 – Instruments
Coding - Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1 - Bit 0 - Check the box for "Gauge Test/Needle Sweep active"

Enabling the default distance setting in the MMI for Adaptive Cruise Control
Module 13 - Auto Distance Regulation
Adaptation - Channel 07 Set to 1

Reboot the MMI - Press MENU, central MMI knob and top right softkey

Outcome - In the MMI you should now be able to go to Car > Driver Assistance > Adaptive Cruise and see a new option there to set the default adaptive cruise distance.

Close electric boot lid from key and driver's door switch
Module 46 - Cent Conv
Coding - Long Coding Helper-> Byte 2 - Bit 2 "Comfort operation: Remote control active" confirm that it's checked

Module 6D - Trunk Elec
Security Access – code 12345
Adaption -
Set “(4)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Tap function for closing” to active
Set “(4)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Tap function for closing” to active

Alter the switch-off speed of the Audi parking System to 20kph
Module 10 - Park/Steer Assist
Adaptation - Channel 23 Set to 20
(Max speed in Km/h - 20 is the highest you can set it to)

Change the temperature of the heated steering wheel
Module 16 - Steering wheel
Adaptation - Channel 10 – Set to temp
Default is 28 (degrees C), I upped mine to 36!

Change the time before heated seats change from level 3 to level 2
Module 08 - HVAC
Adaptation "time until heated seat stage withdrawal from 3-2" - enter time in minutes
Default is 10 (minutes)

Disable/memorise/invert Start & Stop
Module 09 - Cent Elect
Security Access - enter security code 20113
Adaptation - Channel 34 and Read
subtract 4 from the original value --> Start&Stop always disabled
add 32 to the original value --> memorise last status (the Start & Stop status at engine startup will be the one at last engine shutdown)
add 64 to the original value --> Start & Stop button light will be reversed: off if Start & Stop is disabled, and on if Start & Stop is enabled

Enable Adaptive brake lights
Module 46 - Comfort System
Coding - Long Coding Helper -> Byte 8
Bit 0 – Emergency Brake Flashing via Turn Lights active (1 = active)
Bit 1 – Emergency Brake Flashing via Brake Lights active (1 = active)

Any chance you know how to get the Auxiliary ventilation/heating menu to work. I've got it on but it's greyed out for some reason...

In the D3 regardless of if you had a Webasto or not you could code it in and use the ventilation function ?

Try this - if it works I'll add it to the first post

Enable DRL to include other lights
Module 09 – Cent. Elect.
Coding - Long Coding Helper -> Byte 2
Bit 1 = DRL with Front Side markers
Bit 2 = DRL with High Beams
Bit 3 = DRL with Fog lights
Bit 4 = DRL with LEDs
Bit 6 = DRL with Side markers
Bit 7 = DRL with Tail lights

Adjust DRL LED brightness
Module 09 – Cent. Elect.
Security Access - (enter security code 20113)
Adaptation -> Channel 3
Set between 5 and 100
