Default 3.0TDi Remap - REVO or Bluefin

Guy's, as cars now come up to 3yrs old (end of warranty) I've got the itch for a bit more power and maybe a bit better MPG.

With both companies offering Xmas related deals (20% off) has anyone got any experience with them on the 3.0TDi?

Revo have a good rep with the four pot lot, the RS lot don't really use them. I can only recommend www.MRCTUNING.com . They are a lot better than Revo from what I've seen/heard and have done plenty of 3.0 TDI's, also, and I know this is the case with the C5, you cannot map it without doing the gearbox, so look into that. Plus with MRC you get a full health check including a pressure test to make sure there are no boost leaks, important when you're making components work harder etc... MRC don't do discounts or offers though, they don't really have to!

Thanks for the reply, yeah MRC would normally be my first shout for anything RS related, don't mind paying their prices and they did lots of work on & mapped my S2, really happy with it.

As the A8 is mainly used as a chauffeur car tho, it was the 300 - 350quid Revo/Superchips re-maps that caught my eye. if I was going "bigger" power on the A8, I'd def be off the Banbury again tho.

Cheers

You can ask our forum members A8Doc(John on Bigfishtuning http://www.bigfishtuning.co.uk/) or mkoneman, I am sure they will be happy to help.

Personally, I'd go to shark performance (well.. I'd go to BroTek, the local guys who do the Shark maps, but you know what I mean)...

The PO of my car told me he had remapped my 3.0tdi. Subsequently the person he worked with told me he never had. When I challenged him about it he backtracked all over the place before finally settling on telling me the person he bought it from had done it. As most of what he told me should have started ..... Once upon a time.... is it easy to check.

If its not been mapped i'd get it done

You know what
I absolutely would NOT buy a car that I knew had been remapped.

Am I the only member with this view?

I know what you mean -
Thats one of the reasons I preferred the plug in boxes as discussed in the other thread Nick, It doesnt alter the orginal engine settings and all the "control limits" that Audi applies to protect the car from damage are still in place and function.

I wouldn't buy one that was advertised as such, but if everything else appeared unmolestered and I found out during a scan (or test drive suspicion) all else being equal I would buy it.
What I mean is that it's more about the previous owner's attitude to the car and remap than the remap itself. If they boast about it in the advert or when you meet them, I would not like that but I would make assumptions about their owner/driver profile, but if they kept it quiet, I would consider them conservative and careful.

That goes for any kind of modification really. I don't want a car from a tinkerer/messer.

Good point. I guess I'd be the same in truth. You can't always be to picky and so its always a case of ticking as many of the boxes as you can.
