Default Speedometer not working!

Evening all,

I haven't been here much recently... My later summer months were taken up with my new toy MX5. It's lovely getting back in the Barge though, really different experience! Completely faultless recently, and brilliant in the snow/ice.

Driving to work today through some pretty serious puddles my speedo suddenly stopped working... All of the instrument illumination, rev counter, warning lights etc are still working fine.

Any ideas? I have been led to believe it might be the speed sensor in the gearbox, is this a big job? I haven't hooked it up to Vagcom yet because I need to find the disc to install software on my new laptop!

Ta,

Sam

Best way to tell is VagCom. Go to instruments and try an output test to see if it is the clock or the sender.

Great stuff, ta- I'm off work tomorrow so have got a bit of time to have a look. It wouldn't be such a problem in my Mazda- You can really feel how fast you're going. However the A8 is so well insulated and generally quiet I have a job to tell my speed! Will have to tiptoe around scameras until it's sorted.
