All lights on gear selector s8
Hey guys happened 3 or 4 times now on first start in the morning, all the selector lights on the instrument cluster light up all at once switch off and it resets, haven't noticed any transmission issues but a little concerning.
Any ideas? Cheers guys

Get a scan to check, but my first guess would be the F125 switch:

If I continued to drive with all the selector lights lit, it was reluctant to change gear, but a rerstart often cleared it. It'll show up on VagCom. Thanks for super fast reply i just had a look and found a couple threads... muppet for not searching first lol!
I do have vagcom just havent had a chance to get to scanning it. Been flat out with work i havent really driven the car at all either just the last 3 or 4 times popping up to the shops its come on switched off and back on and it clears... thanks for that link... looks like a PITA to swap it out! might be a job to do whilst im doing the rear output flange

Yep, that and a gearbox oil and filter change - all the same bits need accessing. Pretty sure the box needs dropping down a bit to access it?
Had mine done not long after buying it and it's been perfect since. There's 2 types based on VIN (different number of pins) if you plan to swap rather than attempting a clean.

I used to get that on my A8 3.7 when I first got it.
Only did it if I went straight into reverse after starting. if I went to drive first and then back to reverse it was fine. I had to replace the vacuum hoses for the secondary air injection which were missing and also fitted a new MAF. never did it again after that

Thanks for all the advice guys, seems to be quite a few reasons why you would get this fault but throwing it into R after starting does sound like what i did a couple times... maybe i need to treat her a little more gently... after all its a gentlemans car and im not that much of a gentleman!
Specialy in wet roads and quattro
