Default What service?

Folks my 3.0TDi is 08 with 70k and its due a service in 1000 miles or 105 days.

From the history can anyone tell me exactly what it needs?! There doesn't appear to be any consistency or pattern between interval and inspection.

Im keen to get it off long life too.

When in doubt full service it.
that's what I always do.

One oil service every 5k and then full service every 10k.

I don't pay much attention to my book or intervals, just make it's done every 5k and the book is stamp.

That reminds me the Leon needs doing soon and I only got 4kleft till my main service.

Oil, air, fuel and pollen filters.
make sure it's a carbon activated pollen filter. Not a normal paper one, they suck in comparison.

Brake fluid change if it's Not been done before as well.

Go Long life
Ask them to check alternator belt, cheap but I've seen horrible example of 8 with one of them snapped.
Ask them to inspect brake fluid, check the state of battery, just do a proper full service. It hurts when it comes to paying, but its worth it and you don't do that every year.

Long Life?
20,000 miles between service on the same oil?

Think of the lobe wear.

Use the long life oil but don't wait 20k between servicing.

I do oil service every 7,000 miles( 6 months) before aand after frost season.
All the full service items get done every third oil service but not all at the same time. eg.
I change oil, fuel filter and pollen filter on one service, then next service oil and air filter and so on.
Brake fluid gets done when any pads are replaced.
Power steering gets a reservoir evacuate and refill every oil service.
It seems more efficient use of my time and money done this way.
Gearbox and differential fluid every few years.

No, thats not the idea.
Do the long life and full service but dont wait 20k
I do long life every year and I dont even do 10k. Full service every two years, but yes, I am a bit an@l
As a new owner you dont really know what was done and how, book wont tell you everything.
You should do the full service based on long life fluids as soon you get new car, just for a piece of mind, but thats your car not mine.

What is the story with the gearbox, is it sealed for life or not?! So many conflicting reports! Audi say yes and others say no?

Would never have thought of the power steering fluid too. What problems could arise from it?
