Default Geez, you guys have it good!

Being from Australia, our Euro cars are typically expensive compared to everywhere else in the world.

But I didn't quite realise just how much more until I jumped onto Pistonheads...

I just saw a 2010 S8 for £42,000 with low miles... By way of info, thats about $63,000AUS. Sooooo, I checked our local classifieds, and what do I find? A 2010 S8 with low km's for $169,000, or about £110,000.

Hmmm - I think I like your pricing better!

I'm really sorry, i'm actually disgusted with myself.

I have a colluge who looked into exporting some cars to oz as his wife is an ozzie lass. He was looking at taking a Bentley Continental over, he had looked at container cost the lot but there is some ruling that he had to have owned it (for a time period I can remember) before he could sell it in with out some horrific taxation of sorts.

Quite happily post you one for 90,000 Bucks

You are correct. If the car is sold in Aust, then the only way to import is to have owned it for over 2years and have proof of use during that time. Then, and only then, can you import it - but you must pay to have complianced in Aust o meet our regs ($$$$$$$) and then pay the taxes which makes it almost not worth it.

If the model was sold here, we could import under the "grey" laws, but then the taxes charged basically make it the same as buying a similar model here. Just ridiculous really.
