Cool What do you like about your A/S8?

Following on from James's post "if i wasnt driving a S8 id be driving..... "; why are you driving an A/S8? what is it you like about your 8 the most?

For me its the "time-less" design of the exterior compared to what was on offer by BM & Merc. and sense of individuality without having to resort to chav-tastic mods. At the same time you can mingle in the crowd of cars, especially if you haven't washed it
Loads of gadgets great build quality and decent performance

For me, I love the:

Subtle understated looks, it looks nice, but doesnt actually look like it would burn off most cars at the lights

Extensive list of standard equipment that is cost optional, if available on the smaller A3/4/6/TT models

Quattro.... I've always loved 4wd, whats the point in having power if you can't get it down on the black stuff.... I'm not the stig, I'm an average joe driver and quattro means I can actually get my cars quoted 0-60 no matter what our british weather (this week excepted.... lol)

The red glow at night from every corner of the dash, every vent - really makes people feel like they are in something very, very special....

fact that it can plough up and down the motorways in extreme comfort, without a drain on the body (has anyone *ever* driven their 8 a long way and felt tired after?... No) and when the road permits, it can become a pretty nimble sports car, with the power and handling to enjoy any road, safely....

ultra quiet central locking, driven by air pressure in plastic piping throughout the car, by a pump which itself is wrapped in a rubber casing to prevent noise leaking.... marvelous....

I could go on, and on and on.....

Good question!
I agree with the comments above and my wife loves the leather smell, such a nice quality of leather too.

Took it to the South of France last year (doing the same again this year) and I couldn't believe how easy it made eating those miles up.

Don't like the new Audi dashes with the 'minimilist' dashboard look, can't beat a good button-fest.

Also, just feel so smug driving it, when I think what else I could have been driving for the money

Echo everything said by others plus my smug feeling yesterday morning ploughing my way up a snow covered hill near Bristol after being told "I'd turn around, you won't get up there mate". Absolutely fantastic!
(Did start to get a bit concerned about the ground clearance though)

The way it demolished the side of a ford fiesta, destroying two panels and lights and mirrors whilst sustaining a small scuff on the bumper and door rubbing strip. When I found the owner they refused to believe I'd hit their car with the Audi.

It was a choice between the fiesta and the bus that decided he wanted an extra two foot or so of road. . The first time I've ever struck another vehicle, just don't mention ditches, sharp turn chevrons, hedges, a very tall pole that a garden center hung flower baskets from, the back wall of a pre-fab garage (from the inside), a collection of thirty odd garden gnomes artfully arranged in someones front garden and a pig sty in Essex.

I love that it's less ostentatious than a BMW 7 series or Merc S class whilst offering the same level of quality and luxury. To the uneducated eye it's just another Audi - it's only when you get close that you start to realise that it's something a little special.

I love that it's 4WD and that during the recent snows I seriously ****ed off a guy in an M5 who was stuck half-way up a hill while I just cruised straight past him.

I love the comfort, quietness and peace when cruising along, but I also love the fact that I can surprise the crap out of any hot hatch driver that fancies his chances.

One of the cheapest cars I've bought in a very long time. Also the best

I like that most part for this massively luxurous car are still reasonably priced and available
I like that 'most people' handt with some spanners can work on it and there is so much info and expertise available to keep it on the road (would never have taken the dash out to replace a climate display bulb in my old 7 series)
Oh, and I love freezing my nuts off changing something that randomly breaks or stops working :-)
