Question Economy (or otherwise)...

Just wondering...

Have not been driving mine long distances for the last 6 months or so, and can't remember what I used to get.

Pottering around town, I am in the mid 15s to the gallon. A few blasts up the M1 recently at high-ish speed I am at 20-21mpg. 2002 S8 FE recently serviced run exclusively on Vpower.

What are you guys getting? Is my economy representative? Or do I have dodgy O2 sensors...?

I might add that this is all taken direct off the DIS.

Wouldn't be running my car if my company didn't pay for all of my fuel...

My route to and from work is winding and hilly, so not terribly economical. I'm averaging around 18-19mpg (only 5 miles each way).

On a long motorway run I've had mid-high twenties, but generally in out-of-town driving it's around 21-22

That's an early A8 4.2

for the record my 3.7 is doing 24-26 mostly short local journeys of up to 20 miles with the occasional zoom up to london and back from swindon.
must be all those roundabouts slopping the fuel around. . . ahem

I see 11 - 13 on Petrol around town and I have had 28 show on the DIS with wife and mother in the car after 250 miles. Normaly I see about 19mpg on the Mways with spirited driving.

On LPG however....................

Running on LPG ...

I see 16-17 for normal urban, up to 26 on the motorway and down to 14ish when I'm having fun on petrol.

Well, short journey to/from work each day - around 20 mile round trip - seing 22-26mpg.
On the bi-weekly trip on the motorway to visit the wifes family, getting 30-33.

Best I have seen was kept the cruise to 70, on the M62 from Leeds to Preston and the DIS showed 36MPG

Worked out that the DIS is optimistic by about 15% to 20%

4.2 QS

I love the implication there Mike that the MPG is better with wife in car then even better with mother as well LOL
clearly we all need to carry 2 wives and 2 mothers to get best figures
