D3 275 35 20 wider tyres?
Hi Just needing some tyre advice feel like a noob asking this, I have d3 rs rims 275 35 20 tyres on at the moment, needing some new shoes before its mot mainly fronts, had already gone through existing posts and saw there was a link to a chart but I'm not clever enough to interpret it wanting to see if I can get wider tyres fitted using the existing alloys purely asthetic really, 285/295 maybe and what affect it would have? any input would be greatly appreciated

If you have stock 9J I would say stick with 275 as they will bulge too much if you go bigger, if I was looking to improve aesthetics I’d plump for a set of 10mm all round hubcentric spacers for the same effect

Thanks for the advice matey, I had a feeling that might be the case with the tyres bulging, spacers may have to be an option I've worried about the safety of them but from what I've read on here looks like their fine

Spacers are absolutely fine, I run 15mm spacers on my track car, hard kerb riding, real abuse, they are H&R hubcentrics, longer tapered bolts, that’s it.
The TT needed a wider track for better handling, I’d run reputable ones on the S8 no problem, H&R, Eibach, Bilstein, etc Also if you keep 265 or 275 your speedo is still accurate (no margin for error with the 275 btw) |

Btw, 10J at ET35 and you wouldn’t need spacers, only if you are running 9J stock wheels

I think their 9J attached a photo, 10mm might get a better stance, saw that they had some 16mm ones at micksgarage for the D3 but dubious of the quality, rather get H&R

Yeah, they will be 9J width if they are D3 wheels. (D2 'Final Edition' wheels of the same design are 8.5J for reference).
Got a set of those at the moment which I'm considering getting new rubber for so I'm after the same size tyres. You can get a complete set of four new ditch-finders for £250 but of course it's worth paying more for tyres from a premium manufacturer, being the only points of contact between you and the road.

Liking the term ditch-finders
I'm going to go with something budget end circa 100 per tyre, would be nice to get some decent ones though. I've got conti sport on the fronts however there cracks in the sidewalls, still 4mm left on each mot is in april so will has some new ones on before then, getting the spacer urge, just a few more mm |
