Default Finishing the rear blinds

A while ago I went through a mamoth electric rear seat install, and lost somewhere in the middle of all that was the fact that I also installed blinds as my car never had them. The rear parcel shelf blind is reasonably simple, change the parcel shelf and connect the wires but I also have to account for the rear side blinds.

The interior I fitted had the extended leather pack, so I'd changed the door cards anyway, and these rear door cards have blinds built it. The key to this particular retrofit is to change your door cards. There is no way to modify your existing ones as it is so tightly woven into the fabrics.

Once the door cards are changed you're 90% there, but without hooks at the top of the doors to hang them on, they actually no use whatsoever, so we have to fit them.....

So, firstly we open the rear window fully to gain access from both sides, and then we take one of the hooks and get it lined up.

I spent a good few minutes on this first one, pulling the blind up, letting it down, moving the hook not only left and right, but forwards and backwards round the frame until I was happy. Once I was happy, I used the drill just to make 2 small indents on the frame through the screw holes.

and another quick check - yes - looks good

So, I drill hole out fully using a 2.5mm bit and then screw the hook in using the original Audi self tapping screws. Its a tight thread, which is good and it holds really well.

Double check our handy work again - yes - looks spot on, nice and central

Repeat for the other hook and it looks pretty good :

and the view from the lounge in the rear

and then of course, so the same on the other side..... Job done
