Good luck with this John.
I'll be watching for your result.
Shout if you need someone to watch you do it, might be able to fit a few minutes in between visiting times.

The A6 caliper is two wire, + and -, where as the A8 has a hall sensor and 4 wires in total. I guess the motor inside could be identical. I which I kept my old EPB to open up but I returned it to get the deposit back. The A6 uses 2.5mm cable and the A8 4mm. It worth taking a look to save some cash.

Cheers Matt. I was aware it had fewer wires. Hopefully I can fix my original one. Which was full of water, and seal it up. If not I’ll just replace the lot.

One bonus is I’ve just found and pulled the two 30 amp fuses (above battery) so now the EPB is disabled. A rather wonderful side effect of this being the warning noise above 5mph is also disabled!!!

Predictable update: it physically works, but the hall sensor, which I transferred to they new EPB housing, a la MacGyver, is not sending a signal so I’ve a MIL. Which other than being annoying won’t pass an MOT, due in August.

Was worth a try I guess. Hmmmm....

Oh well, at least you tried, and didn't cost that much to experiment.

All sorted, got a TRW (OEM) unit. Fitted, cleared faults about 5 times, cycled the ignition and it stuck. EPB now works well, and more quietly than it has in a while.
