S8 Oil change
I'm looking at changing the oil on my car after the poor service I got from the main dealer.
The cars not due a service but I cant get the old school ways out of my blood and think engines should have more frequent oil changes so thats what I'm going to do. Would appreciate your thoughts on oil for the change. also filters. I had a look online earlier and I am considering OE quality filter from Bosch or Mann, interestingly I have read that Bosch and mann bought a company called purolater that make the filters so does that mean they are both the same just branded differently with different price too. Came across this video below which is eye opening about the cheaper stuff that I wont consider. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKwmk1RYHpk

Very interesting video that, certainly shows why its not worth saving 50p on cheap service parts!

Is it not Hengst that makes OEM filters for Audi, at least I am pretty sure D2 OEM filters were made by Hengst. So that's another option to consider.

Can you get Mann filters? If so I'd go for them, even though the video is Mann funded I have seen the quality difference between Mann and crossland up close on the A8 regarding carbon pollen filters.
Also shell as mentioned by another lad on here is a bloody good oil and a good price, if I wasn't using shell and I had a S8 I'd be using Mobil 1, I run everything on it now and have noticed better and quieter running on shell, factory fill for Ferrari too so it's got some weight behind it oh and make sure it's fully synthetic, depending on what weight you car uses you might only have fully synthetic choices

I'd buy the filter from TPS to be certain you're getting OEM quality - it won't be an expensive part of the job and you know it'll be right.
For oil - not sure on D3s and what the out of warranty specs are that the Americans recommend? For my D2 the Fuchs Pro Race S is Ester based but not Audi approved. For later cars Millers Nanodrive seems to be popular If in doubt stick to the recommended options from the Castrol oil chooser on TPS and it'll still be cheaper than the main dealer and done the way you want it
