Default Phone Mirroring and Airplay on 2G MMI

Howdy geeks here's a video hot of the press for you showing the operation and some thoughts regarding the Kivic One that I installed.

Spent the afternoon messing about in the car and have installed the Wireless Mirroring / Airplay device into the car.

The device is a product I bought off the tinternet after seeing a few videos on youtube about it.

You can find more info here

Hi Del
First of all, great review mate
I take all the bad points mentioned by you in the video, but I look forward to improvements after modifying iOS with Cydia. It will be interesting to see how home screen will fill the display.
It is a bit annoying and shame the picture does not turn horizontally like in iPad without the need of Jailbreaking.

Response time is very good I have to say.

What about the touch screen, does it come with the kit??

Actually the only bad thing in this whole setup is the quality and resolution of D3's LCD to be honest.
But everything seems to be sleek.

Surely by the cable response would be better, but for wifi streaming in the car is very good.

Video streaming is very cool, and if you have Sky Go subscription you can watch any Sky channels when stuck in traffic or whatever without a hassle, F1 qualifying of you are late or football if stuck on motorway.
This is what I would use it for, my Sky subscriptions coz I find BBC and other channels a bit boring and Sky F1 and Sports or Sky Movies would be my main target, especially Sky Disney for the little one as she is constantly short of space on her iPad and it drives me mad constant deleting and uploading stuff on it.

So the whole kit cost you £190 inc customs charges???

I think its not that bad and no wires is a huge benefit.

Looking forward to more reviews of this gadget.
So far so good Del

Thank you for sharing it.

Looks really great Del and thanks for taking the time to do the video - it really shows how it all works.

Cheers guys, must admit it was all done in a hurry as it was getting dark rather quickly.

I shall sort the video link once its uploaded again.

I had to remove it as I noticed that the google map was showing where I lived.

So that section of the video has been blurred.

Once I have had a bit more time with it and sorted orientation issues out I may do another video.

If there is any features that you would like to know about then just ask.

Its quite a versatile little box and can be used with apple and android devices, directly, via a wifi router etc

The landscape thing works kinda with the SBrotator7 from Cydia but as the name hints too it meant for ios 7 and doesn't work flawlessly in Ios 8 but as and when I find work arounds I will let you know.

There is no touchscreen interface with this unit, its purley mirroring etc.

That's cool.
I like that.

How and where did you fit it?

I bought it direct from the supplier in Korea, as for fitting it, its connected to the Hybrid tv tuner in the media rack on the left side of the luggage compartment.

Plug wiring info can be found here if you don't already have some in place already.

If you don't have a TV tuner then there is other ways to do it.

I got the Aux cable all made up ready to be fitted.

I was wondering about the Kivic.
The basic cables I understand with the AV and power.
Its your location and routing I'm curious about.

The unit is so small, the connections are Micro usb for power and its supplied with a cigar lighter adaptor to USB.

A/V cables are 3.5mm jack to RCA leads, it comes with both male and female so either way you should be fine.

I currently have it powered from the power socket in the luggage compartment,

I have a this on order so I can connect it properly in behind the trim panel.
