I would refrain from creating a fuss about this, as I said before the alignment or geometry is off and has worn the edge of the tyre right through to the belts of the tyre weakening it and resulting In a blow out.

It's quite common on d2s fitted with 20s to see this pattern of wear - usually inner edge on the rears and outer on the front. My last set of tyres went in a similar fashion in terms of wear pattern. I did have a proper Audi spec alignment done and there were minor issues that cumulatively were contributory to the wear seen. There's a thread on here somewhere with the before and after results

I had similar wear (nothing as dramatic an end though) because I'd not checked the tyre pressure for a little while and one was very down. In the past I've always been able to easily tell when pressures are low by the way the car feels, but the wall on my 20's are so low and stiff, I simply didn't realise. I check more regularly now and am thinking about an aftermarket tyre pressure monitor (cheaper than a new set of Michelin's).
Really glad you're ok though! |

My Vredestein Sessantas wore in exactly the same way on my 20s, despite correct alignment. Looks like a failure to me....I was down to the canvas as well before noticing...
I need to do upper and lower arms at the front in the next couple of months....I wonder if that would contribute to this wear pattern? Zip

Your photo shows that the side channel cuts ("Sipes") are completely worn away on the shoulder indicating a large amount of wear when compared with photos of new Vredestein tyres on the web, where the sipes extend down over the shoulder whereas you have none left. I guess that hitting a pothole must have caused the weak area to blow out. Glad you are ok though.
