Default Driver's Door - partial unlock

I have just started to get an issue whereby the drivers door unlocks but when I try to open it, it is only partially unlocked and opens 25mm but is held on the latch. Almost screwed me up big time last night on exiting Dundee Docks when I got out the car to return my car pass at the gate and left the keys in the car with the engine running. Unfortunately I have also recently re-coded the locks so all doors locked when the speed reaches 15kmp. Could not open the drivers door! it would open 25mm but not fully. Finally after much frantic tugging at the door handle it opened.

Is this connected to the re-coding or is it a fault?

Sounds mechanical, maybe worn/damaged linkage in the door?

Its doesnt seem mechanical as it just suddenly works on the "n"th pull at the handle (where "n" is a number between 2 and 20). Its as if the latch doesnt get fully retracted and then decides to do so.

maybe youve got a leak in the air pipes so that its not pushing the mechanism far enough?

Thats a thought Neil, but why will it work after a while? It now hardly ever opens at first but frantic pulling of the door lever when you are blocking the main dock gates at 8'oclock on a cold wet night possibily doesnt help! Sometimes if I pause and wait 2 secs until trying again its OK. But then again sometimes not...

It's definitely related to the security locking.. I had exactly the same issue on my S4 after recoding the central locking. It could be a leaky pipe/actuator, or a worn pump, but I'm sure the actual issue is you trying to open the door too soon, not giving the locking system enough time to put the locks in the fully unlocked position after removing the key.

I was thinking that this had only become an issue since re-coding. Patience is not my strongest virtue but on this occasion the key was in the car and it was running so it wasnt a matter of waiting for the unlock sequence to finish - the door just closed behind me

Also, the pump is new - thanks to the Laird as previous owner having had an issue with it one day (see thread somewhere!). I may try patience first and then re-coding back to normal if patience fails me. I definitely wont be leaving the car running whilst leaving it again!
