Default Xmas Owners Meeting - Friday 28th Dec - Stoke on Trent

Hi all,

Well as winter marches in you will all want to be planning to test out your quattro systems and also how the heck you can get away from the in-laws etc in between Xmas and New Year for at least a day.

Your top team of romping and raving reporters have tried to pick a day and venue that will interest as many people as possible in getting along to say hi and talk some Xmas and New Year car b*ll*x and generally be more sociable in one day than you have been over the whole of xmas so far to the gaggle of people infesting your homes!!

OK so here are the details -

VENUE :

Trentham Gardens & Shopping Village - ST4 8JG
http://www.trentham.co.uk/
Loads to do there for adults and kids of all ages!
CAR PARK ADJOINING THIS VENUE IS MASSIVE
I suggest we meet at the left hand end as you enter the car park, away from the majority of shops and the entrance to Trentham Gardens

Directions -Head to North Main Entrance: Sat Nav postcode ST4 8JG for:
•Trentham Gardens main entrance
•Trentham Shopping Village
•Monkey Forest
•Premier Inn
•Trentham Garden Centre
•Ice Skating
•Frankie & Benny’s

Situated to the south of Stoke-on-Trent, there is easy access from both the
M6 motorway and A50 dual carriageway.

From The M6 North or South
Exit junction 15 of M6
Follow A500 towards Stoke-on-Trent for 1 mile
Exit right at roundabout and follow A34 towards Stone
Trentham’s main North Entrance is 1 mile on the right

From The A50
At The Britannia Stadium
Exit left at roundabout and follow A500 for 1 mile
Exit left at roundabout and follow A34 towards Stone
Trentham’s main North Entrance is 1 mile on the right

Suggested Hotel -
Premier Inn Trentham Gardens
http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/S...entham-gardens
This is currently offering rooms for only £19 per night if you book now and pay ahead. There are of course many other hotels and guest houses / B&B's nearby but this is right at the site itself and convenient.

The Timings will be as follows - you can join in as much or as little as you wish but I do need to know numbers for each so that I can speak to Venues and book tables for meals etc.

Thursday 27th Dec
Those that wish to arrive the night before and stay the night -
Arrive to suit your timings but ideally we hope to have a meal at around 8pm latest and I need to know numbers -
There is a place with Live Music at the site which will be playing on this Thursday evening so I need to book table(s) relatively soon
http://www.davidsbrasserie.co.uk/
Table booked for 5 adults & 1 child at 19:45, music starts at 8pm

Friday 28th December
Meeting will congregate/assemble at 12 noon in the car park at Trentham Gardens to have an ogle at everyone's gathered aluminium and a good old catch up (and of course meet all you new guys and gals that want to come along!). Come with your car presented as well as possible as there will be a competition between all owners present with various prizes on offer!!!!

This will be followed by an adjournment to either Frankie and Benny's (http://www.frankieandbennys.com/rest...entham-gardens) or the Adjacent Harvester along the road (which do people prefer?) for a group meal and to enjoy some alcoholic beverages for those that wish to stay into the evening.
Frankie and Bennys has been booked for 2.30pm - Large table for 9 adults and 3 children, but will take up to 19 altogether!

Those that wish to leave can drift off as it gets dark for the journey home and others who wish to travel to the meet and then have a sociable drink can do so into the evening!

I'm booked into the Premier Inn for Thursday and Friday night so would be pleased to catch up with any of you that wish to for a drink on either night.
I will be arriving early evening on the Thursday and leaving at an appropriate hour on the Saturday morning!

Attendance list to follow next - please add your names and which meals you wish to be booked for how many people and please please dont leave it until the last minute as I will have to book things ahead. Also bear in mind if you are coming and staying at a hotel it will generally be cheaper to get the deal booked now while it is further ahead than pay more nearer to the time.

Lets make it another great Xmas meet, we had a great time last year!

I will try to make this one as the only meet I went this year was A8parts meet and I showed up with A6. I am working night of 27th/28th so it will be hard to get there and back home the same day and me being cheap I do not want to book hotel. I do have a friend fellow A8 owner who might be coming with me if I go but he made it clear he is not driving his A8 but might join me if I go.

Not sure if we can make this, though we'd like to.

Last year's meet at The Leopard was great and SWMBO was very impressed with all the aluminium! But this is maybe a bit too far given all the family complications we have this Christmas (Mother-in-law was buried 2 days ago and Father-in-laws needs are escalating).

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions, ski hatch retrofit; extended leather. Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.).
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
