Default MMI 2G/AMI very slow USB file load

Hi

I've just been through the whole firmware upgrade process with this and it's now on the latest firmware. However in general use I see that loading music (apple lossless/Mpeg4 files) from the USB stick (a 64gb stick recommended by someone else on here) it takes 20 seconds to load and/or buffer a song before playing.

Is this normal or perhaps caused by the size of the stick?

I can stick a Ipod or use the CD changer and it's immediate when playing.

I've got B and O so I'm keen to stick to uncompressed files as the difference in sound quality if very obvious with lower rate files.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I have always run a high bit rate for the reasons you state, but I've never tried lossless. I wouldn't have though it even supports it to be honest, but I guess it does.

The delay seems excessive, but depending on the brand / capabilities of the USB stick, that might be slowing things down. I don't even know how big a lossless track is in size these days.

I've never found skipping through MP3 tracks on the AMI any slower than the fractions of a second it takes to skip through an actual CD....

Lossless is circa 25-30mb per song, it sometimes plays and sometimes....

I use lossless on the ipod and they play perfectly but on the USB stick it's very slow and erratic.

The stick is a Lexar USB3 stick and should be fine, it's is being used by another D3 owner on here without reported issue.

It's a conundrum so it is!

On a related note, I've just found this

http://www.oddgravity.de/app-opc.php

Which works brilliantly for creating playlists on the stick, it works at least!

As a trial all I did was drag and drop a load of MP3 and WAV files from my desktop onto a 32 GB SD card. Then connected the card to the AMI via a USB card reader and it worked.
AMI displays everything alphabetically
in Artist order
in Album order
in Track order.
Hope that makes sense.

I have planned on doing some "proper" playlist loading but todate have not been motivated, 'cos it works

Probably of limited help, but my M3 has the exact same delays with a 64gb USB stick, but only for the first track, it plays okay once it gets going.

CD or iPhone plugged in is instantaneous

Just remembered, I tried a 128 GB stick but that did not work.
Probably AMI software needs improving.
This leads me to think that it would struggle with a 64GB

I thought that there was something abut giving it a while for the system to catalogue the media drive/stick thing

If you go on the hidden green menu you can select the sync time for the AMI and after the update to 5570 it reverts to a slower time for some reason.
I changed mine back to 60ms i think and it works great again
64GB usb stick im using by the way

Ah a new thing I didn't know about, there's a lot of that at the moment!

Are these valid instructions?
