 Do you not think it would be better to meet up at the Carding Shed first (they have lots of free parking) and then decide where to go from there? Since we'll all be arriving at different times, those who get there first will be able to take a look around the cars in the Carding Shed while they wait for the others to arrive (there's no entrance fee so you're free to wander in and out). We could eat at the Oil Can Cafe (the food is actually really good there) and stop at a pub for drinks and a natter later. Or, we could leave the Carding Shed earlier and eat at a pub somewhere on the chosen driving route if you prefer. I'm hoping to be there by about 11am (depending on traffic).

BTW, my parents used to live in Hathersage and close to Chatsworth house. Those roads will be hell on a sunny bank holiday!

Good point.
Although I expect most of the roads will be similar. The coinciding of Sunny weather and bank holidays is a pretty rare event.

Ok reccy done and ideas gathered - see how you all feel about this:
11:00am onwards - arrive at the Carding Shed and look around until about 2pm maybe 2:15pm latest. I've been over to the carding shed briefly and spoken to one of the guys that works there and he confirms that the cafe gets stuffed full for lunches etc. Those that want to could grab a coffe and cake on arrival possibly. 14:00-14:30 ish depart on the drive - but we would be stopping at a pub recommended to me by the carding shed guy as having plenty of parking and being spot on for food and a stop, and it is on the route I have kind of worked out today as I drove through the dales. We should be eating by about 2:30-2:45pm and I've reserved a table for 5-8 people and said not sure on numbers. So the details are| Meet at between 11:00-12:00 am at the Carding Shed Dobroyd Mills, Butt Lane, Hepworth, HD9 1AF Then all off for a drive from there routing through - - HOLMFIRTH - HOLME >> STOP FOR LUNCH fleeceinnholme.co.uk The Fleece, The Village, Holme, HD9 2QG Then continue the drive up the hill at Holme through to - WOODHEAD - GLOSSOP Then ALONG THE SNAKE ROAD & SNAKE PASS and down to - BAMFORD - HATHERSAGE - through Grindleford to CALVER Then we could either finish at Chatsworth House Nearby but it might be chargeable to go in or drop across to - BAKEWELL and finish there Likely to finish between 5 and 6pm latest Does this work for everyone?
