Lazarus ! The car is being resurrected after not being sold. Have to say I love the 335d I've been using for the last 4 months but the wife's car is going, so she'll use the BMW for a while.

Quite looking forward to getting back in the S8 again and driving it, just hope it genuinely has had the fuelling problem fixed as if it breaks down again it's getting driven to the scrapheap.

Pls see wanted post in the classifieds as I need a set of genuine 18" alloys !

Welcome back! I think one of our members was advertising a set of 18 inch quattro sport wheels very reasonably

got the car back tonight, taxed it and insurance sorted.

it's making an interesting scraping noise from the front left wheel (suspect slightly stuck caliper ?) and I think the steering pump or water pump bearing was a bit dry as there was a god-awful noise on tickover, but that seems to have lessened after driving 20 miles.

just need to sort out 2 new tyres (unless I can sort out or refurb a proper set of OEM 18" wheels) and then it's cross fingers time and hope for no more breakdowns.

Pleased to report that the repeated fuelling issues have (so far) not resurfaced, the car was low on fuel tonight and has started fine which is a step forward from last time I saw the car- by the side of the A45/A46 slip road stranded back in October 2013.

ok so a few updates.

*so far*, the car has started every time with no issues whatsoever, gave the battery a good 20 hour charge then have used it to commute to work every day for the last week or so.

Thanks to topgolfer1 I have a set of FL Avus alloys on their way to a local refurb place and will be ordering some Uniroyal Rainsport 3's to be fitted. Then to freshen up the audio system I'll be fitting my Becker Cascade unit with a custom fascia so it all matches perfectly.

Also need to sort out my cracked drivers door glass and look at a wierd "catching" noise coming from the front left wheel.

Going to try to keep on top of the maintenance and run the car for a while - it's crap on fuel compared to my 335d but there's a certain amount of charm in the old girl so why the heck not.

Check your wheel arch liner as they have a tendency to move around when they are short of a fixing or two and sometimes are damaged and move
