Default 00979 - Lamp for Low Beam; Right (M31): Open or Short to Plus

Hi there. My right low beam bulb works intermittenly. Sometimes it turns on. Sometimes it doesn't. And sometimes it turns on, flickers and dies

I've this code:

00979 - Lamp for Low Beam; Right (M31): Open or Short to Plus

I've replaced the bulb. Swtiched the ballast from left to right. Also switched the headlight control module on the back of the headlight cover for the HID bulb. Nothing helps. Is this a wiring issue?

How do I check the wiring to the HID bulb the easiest? Resistance? Voltage? Which wires?

I just noticed there's a 2nd HID ballast on the side of the headlight. And from there the wire goes to the HID bulb and igniter. So it should be that one I shall test and switch out. But the bumper needs to come off for that

One of those had failed on my car when I bought it. When you said you swapped the ballasts but it seems you swapped just the igniters. If it is the part at fault, have a look on ebay for a Hella part rather than searching for the Audi part number, they are much cheaper

Yes, I meant the igniter. Always confuse those two. I managed to get hold of a used one from the scrap yard. Also didn't have to remove the bumper to remove the old one. Will test it tomorrow and report back
