Default 2005 Sat Nav Update

Hi new A8 D3 3.0 diesel owner here. Great car but 10 year old sat nav info is very annoying! Is it a simple task to update my 2g sat nav? Is it a simple disc swap as in my old Honda Accord? Any tips appreciated.

Yes its a straight DVD swap, the DVD drive is in the boot behind the left hand side cover. The latest 2014 DVD requires MMI software version 5570, however the 2013 version does not.

You can check the MMI software version by pressing the CAR button, if there is a version link on the lower right hot key then it maybe an older version. The version is either obtained by pressing that key, or by going into the systems menu and selecting Version. Where the option is depends on the version of MMI software, the version will say something like 55.7.0 which is the latest.

When you insert the newer disc, a number of updates will be performed that may take a while to complete.

Thanks for that...I think I have sourced a more up to date disc. I'll let you know how I get on.
