Yup. The new Waitrose in sunny Helensburgh has a Shell garage opening on the 24th Oct. Looks like The Laird and I will be some of its best customers.

How you guys finding Nitro?
My M3 runs like a bag of spanners on it, kangarooing in 1st and 2nd gears, soon as I switch to another fuel the issue disappears again. Am finding the M3 likes Tesco Momentum best, as did the Boxster before it. My problem is not isolated either, there is a lot of chat about it with similar symptoms on the M3 forums, but doesn't seem to affect all users, latest theory is that it could be getting contaminated at certain forecourts |

I have found it provides greater smoothness across the lower rev range in particular - smooth pick up, no hesitation as I seem to get with 95RON. However, thats much the same with all higher octane fuel. At the moment I have a tank of mixed Shell V-power and recently topped up with Esso [98 RON - Extreme?] as that's the local garage stuff .... until the Shell garage opens.

Runs better than BP Ultimate (my usual tipple) and gives better MPG, but I rarely use it because the petrol stations are so inconvenient. One in Helensburgh might well change that!

Agree with HP, Brian and David, runs much better on it. I've also tried BP Ultimate and didn't notice any difference between the two but Nitro is my current choice due to wider availability and cost. I can only get BP Ultimate at a nearby motorway services but have a couple of options for Nitro. I filled up the other day and got 81 litres in for the princely sum of £112, a new low in fact

I was just sticking Tesco bog standard 95 in since I've had my A8 without a thought, but have used the 99 Momentum for a few months now (since the annual meet actually) and definitely wouldn't go back to a 95RON fuel. I reset the trip at every fill up and I'm now getting 40/50 miles more per tank using the premium petrol and almost 100 more on long journeys cruising at 70/80mph. And the engine is definitely running sweeter on the premium juice.
Tesco 95: ~320 miles per tank Tesco 99 Momentum: ~ 360 miles per tank Would be interested to see if Shell Nitro+ improves further on that. I'll need to visit the watering hole today so will report back when I've used a few tanks and see how many more miles I achieve with it.

I found Tesco Momentum was the same as Shell.
My old (32-valve) S8 was quite happy on 95RON and didn't seem much better on higher octane, the 40V definitely does.
