Default At what speed does the '8 hunker down?

The manual says "In all settings except the comfort mode the suspension drops automatically to Low (suitable for motorway speeds) when road speed exceeds about 120 km/h for more than 30 seconds."

Of course, 120km/h in Britain is 5mph over the speed limit. Does this magic fuel saving event occur at 70mph in the UK?

Can't say I have ever noticed because I never go above the limit cough cough.

It does indeed drop as you say above the limit.

Correct.

And iirc it lifts back up to the original height after a few seconds below 40mph too.

Automatic motorway lowering after > 30 s at v > 75 mph (120 km/h)
No it happens at 75mph in the UK too.

Mine drops at exactly 78mph (which is about 120kph) and raises when you drop below 30mph I think... It may be 20mph but the initial drop is definitely 78mph. Doesn't drop at 77mph. It has to be 78mph for over 30 seconds. I was wondering if there is a VagCom value that could be changed so it drops at, say, 60mph instead?

I suspect its designed to only drop when you're properly cruising - Too much up and down action in erratically flowing traffic would likely place undue wear on the suspension compressor....

I find it a bit gimmicky on the A8 to be honest as its low anyway, but the Q7 could do to drop a few feet for economy on the motorway

I just adjust settings on MMI when doing a long journey on a motorway, I have only left it on auto once or twice as like said its just going up and down all the time in traffic, can't do it any good.

Edit: once or twice iv pulled up to lights and noticed the suspension messing about then too even when iv not got it in auto or messed around with the MMI, iirc it does also drop more when left in dynamic and above 150kph, I think it's another 5mm to make the full 25mm drop

I usually go to a little one man band inside an industrial unit for fuel and he fills it while I stay in the car.
I leave the ignition on so I can shout him when it's approaching full.
The first time I heard him whisper Ohhhhhh God! Ooooof!
Then he said is your car going up or is it me?

One of my 13 year old granddaughters can sense when the car drops whilst travelling. I only know 'cos the green light comes on
Management says "no sense no feeling"
