Rear brake hoses
Hi All, just thought I would share this with you as what I found was horrific and potentionally dangerous. I have a 97 PF 3.7 which I previously changed the N/S rear caliper a few weeks ago and noticed that the rear brake hoses were starting to perish but nothing too serious. So ordered the hoses went to change them last weekend and what I found was really scary. The rear hoses where they are attached to the body is hidden behind the plastic wheel arch liner, when I pulled this away to reveal the upper metal part of the hose this was severely corroded, so much that the rubber sleeve on the hose when pulled down showed the crimped metal to rubber part to be non existent, the rubber section of the pipe was only holding on for grime death it was only a matter of time before they parted company. As these are part hidden by the wheel arch liner a MOT inspector wouldn't see them to check. I would beg all members with PF A8's to check these hoses as soon as possible as I do not think it's an isolated case. Apologies for the length of the message.
Regards Alun
