Default tyres ......from ASDA ?

I recently needed some new tyres for the motorhome ...after scanning the web I found the best price for what I wanted was delivered from poland to france and in euro's , so I waited until I was back there and then paid the local garage €10 a pop to fit and balance

well pleased with the deal I told someone on a forum who needed the same tyre size about it , and he duly purchased the same item for his vehicle

only thing was , he got them from asda.....and slightly cheaper ! they give an all inclusive price and offer a choice of fitters locally

so if tyres are what you need and you have an asda in reasonable distance , may I suggest you google up asda tyres and have a look ? no promises of course but I had a look at 245R45 18 and they had 57 offerings at all prices , so you could be lucky !

It always amuses me when you visit Walmart in the US and the tyres are there on an aisle, just like bread and milk....

They are cheaper than I expected.

A bit more expensive than Oponeo for most tyres it seems, but certainly worth checking/comparing. No doubt less risky than buying from sites like Oponeo too.

Like most tyre sites though, when I enter my reg, they get my tyre size wrong; 225 / 55 / 17 instead of 255 / 35 / 20.
19s or 18s, I can understand, but did any S8s ever come fitted with 17s?

Comparing with Oponeo, which is the cheapest I've found so far (and where I purchased my present Michelin Pilot Super Sports):

Michelin Pilot Super Sports
ASDA - £189.60 each
Oponeo - £166 each

ASDA don't seem to stock the Michelin Pilot Alpin winter tyres I was considering buying but comparing a similarly priced winter tyre:

Dunlop Winter Sport 3D MS (97W)
ASDA - £203.72
Oponeo - £173

So it seems, ASDA are about £20 - £30 more expensive per tyre than Oponeo. Going part-way through ASDA's checkout process though, suggests that the tyre price includes fitting. In fact, I can't seem to find a supply-only option. It looks like you're forced to use one of their approved tyre fitters.

I got a tyre from asda for the Leon after I got a puncture on the motorway and killed a 3 week old tyre it was a 225/40/17 uniroyal RS3 for around £77 fitted at the local halfords for free, made me laugh as when I went to get it fitted the discount they had to put on the invoice was phenomenal

It was cheaper than tyre leader who I usually use too.

looks like as ever in supermarkets , some things are well priced and some are overpriced , you can only suck it and see!

I always buy online from Tyreleader (in Germany) and bookmark the page of the tyre I want and wait for the price to drop, presumably due to exchange rate fluctuations.
I wonder if one knows someone who works at ASDA (an ASDA Colleague I think they call them) they can get 10% staff discount on tyres?

Winter proper is here...

Set of Dunlop SP winter sport (M&S) fitted today to help keep the car on the road this winter. Perfect timing too; not just because of the change in the weather but that the summer tyres had just touched the wear indicators.
