Finished install. The system uses the MMI controls to operate

Most of it lives behind the glovebox. This system also can support reverse camera and front camera.

I put the microphone into the roof Using the free position. It works really well.

I have installed a USB port for the apple CarPlay connection in the centre bin. This way I can free up the AMI and also keep the car tidy without cables all over the place.

Sure.

I was very impressed with the quality of the wiring from this kit.

Also, for the D3, you will need to attach CAN high and low wires to the Gateway (pin 6-high and 19-low) then you’ll need to attach one wire to 12v+, one earth, and one to the MMI (pin 16 on the MMI control head)

If you do not have aux in or AMI you’d have to chat to the company. I had aux in through the TV module

Just an update,

I have sorted a long term (2 years) HVAC issue.

There was a lack of proper heat coming from the dash. Oddly, it was ok from the rear vents (4 zone car).

I was preparing to flush the heater cores, but I checked the valves and pipes and they were fine. Great temp, clean flow of coolant.

I therefore checked the coding with VCDS and it had many errors.

A proper basic setting run after clearing the codes has actually mended the system. Perfect heat from all vents as required.

Result.

True. This is why I was able to tolerate the lack of proper heat for a long time haha. But it gets cold this year.

While I was there I sorted the Carplay. I was getting some feedback from the TV module RCA inputs and decided to change to the AMI. Ground Loop eliminated.

The PCV has been changed also (twice since the first one was defective) and I have swapped out the radiator vent hose as well as ordered a new sway bar with new sway bar bushes (a snapped bolt ruined the bar end I had)

I have been chasing an extended leather interior for a number of years but my interior colour (indigo) is too rare and extended leather pack 3 wasn’t actually offered locally. I have only seen one car with leather pack 2 and 99% of them have no extended leather at all.

Happily, I got lucky and bought a set of trims from the US. It was extremely difficult to get them organised and posted due to many reasons and when they got here it seemed they were soul. Bugger.

So I had to go down the road of recolouring and retrimming them.

It is possible to remove the suede part of the trim, and remove all the pockets and such, but this does involve breaking the plastic rivets. It is also possible to use small screws to reattach everything, provided it isn’t properly broken (I drilled the plastic rivets out)

The colour match is quite successful, and now I have rear door blinds in addition to the leather pack
