I just noticed that one of mine looked slightly "out of place" and on checking it was pretty loose, only really held by a flimsy part-broken lug at the outer edge with the inner end just waving about!
Taking it out I can see how the catches are "supposed" to hold them reasonably firmly, but they just don't seem to. I guess over time the lower bumper gets affair bit of bashing and distorts somewhat. Reading all the various suggestions in this thread, is a good (black) cable tie at the top towards the inner end really adequate? Or are there better methods? (This is the late FL one-piece type)

I put two black cable ties in each of mine, seems to hold it well, cant really remember exactly where TBH, but it was towards each end at the top. In the unlikely event that it stops raining long enough in the next few days I will try and take a picture and post it up.

Thanks, the only slots seem to be where the latches are and without looking very closely (dark and starting to rain) it appeared to me that a cable tie through them would actually obstruct the catches. But maybe you can work it to the side?
As you say, the weather isn't helping.

You could mold them at home using dental alginate to take the mold, and finishing resin to cast the part. You could even put a bit of glass fibre in there for extra strength.
The rear would be a bit flat because it would be a simple open mold, but you never see that side anyway. The curvature may cause a bit of a problem? |
