Good plan. I think it may be environmental, with Ray and I being fairly close geographically. I hope, more than think...

Found this map of DAB TX stations. It dates 2011 but it resembles my experience of where I can't pick up DAB in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Edit:

This is also good:

Ok, hope this helps someone. My issue is with the National stations. I enabled the signal strength readout and have 4 for the stations I like to listen to, and the other local commercial stations I have 7.

Don’t know why, or why it has recently worsened. But at least I can visually monitor the strength of the National stations now when out and about.

All good info.
I have 7 on BBC 2 but only 4 on Smooth. These are the national stations, didn't think to check the locals, I'll do that later.

My error, my fault, I was looking at a very old log.
Just done another read and I do have 0F

Address 0F: Digital Radio Labels: None
Part No SW: 4E0 910 563 C HW: 4E0 035 563

I'm on grandfathers taxi today so I'd better head out.

Whilst collecting the little ones I had a play with the result that all, National and Local, vary mainly between 4 and 7 as I'm travelling.
Friday I'm driving down to Chepstow so I'll try and keep my eye on it then.
I know why I have problems when parked outside our house, it and the mill behind us are in direct line with the Winter Hill transmitter which from Matts information is the main for this area.

FWIW mine was like that when I bought the car, i.e. only very few channels worked and only in very specific locations. Turned out the Amp was broken - although I couldn't find any way to verify this. But I bought a new second hand one and it works perfectly.

Signal strength is not really relevant with digital reception.
It is signal quality (SNR) that needs to be monitored.

Sorry for the delay in updating this thread, personal problems have distracted me over the last few days.
Drove to Chepstow last Friday, spent the weekend there and returned on Sunday.
The good news is that I had Smooth Easy playing all the time and it worked perfectly. Really surprised that the only time it weakened, but not enough to swap automatically to FM, was in the dip near Chepstow Parish Church.
I do not really understand this sudden improvement. Last week I did remove the aerial preamplifier to take a photograph of it alongside my original preamp, then replaced it in the car.
So I guess simply taking the preamp for a walk away from the car for ten minutes then refitting it might just resolve the reception problems for others.
Remember I am only a simple old fogey and the silly easy fixes suit me down to the ground.

Small update.

I removed the power to my dashcam and the reception seems to be much better. I’ll not say it’s fixed until I’ve driven the car a bit more than I’ve had a chance to today.
