Default Caliper colour

Evenin' all,

I now have a set of very shiny Avus alloys (courtesy of thr nice folks at NuLuk wheels in Carrickfergus)
However the calipers behind now let the side down.

For some reason the front ones are black and the back ones are silver.

Anyone shed light on what colour they are supposed to be???

My front ones are blackish. Rears are dirty, but the one I had to replace not so long ago is silverish.

Black and silver is how they come - front Brembos painted, rears raw aluminium. They didn't put quite so much thought in to such things back in the noughties as they do now.

Brembos are lacquered black and the rears just cast alloy finish as MJ says. When I had the rears refurbished a couple of years back I had them finished in black gloss to match the fronts - which when THEY were refurbished I naturally got re-done in gloss black. However, I would have preferred to have had them all in gunmetal grey which I think would have looked a bit better with a dark car.

+1 As shown goes with the dark colour, as David's said, and matches the centre caps

Fronts need a bit of a tidy as the lacquer has peeled off a bit and are looking scruffy.
Any suggestions on what to repaint them with?

I painted the back ones with high temp silver paint when I was putting the car back together. Will just give them a freshen up with the same paint (when the ambient temperature reads a positive number!)

Well a VERY temporary fix before I got them refurbed was to remove as much of the delaminated lacquer as possible and then lacquer spray them. It looked OK at a distance until I got them done properly.
