I have no doubt you perfected the tools and procedures, MJ
As I am working on my own car atm, I look at your past projects to get a better grasp of what I am trying to do.
Removing the engine from the car like you are able to do, must make every small detail so much easier. Even if I understand that is quite an undertaking.
And thanks again, for every workshop post you make

"I learned a new way of refilling 5HP gearboxes the other day - pump it in through the oil cooler return I got 6 litres in to it this way, compared to the usual 3 from underneath. This should mean it is very close to normal level on first start and just needs a little bit topping up once its up to temperature, or possibly a little letting out".

That's the way I'm gonna try doing mine the next time I do it. I'll be trying it at the oil cooler end of the pipe though.

Engine back in:

Hopefully I'll get it all buttoned up and running tomorrow and see if all this effort paid off...

Great work

Still missing a couple of cylinders though. Thought you might have fixed that before putting it back in

I almost did, but I don't have any working 5hp24s!

At the moment the plan is to get her in perfect stock condition and put her up for sale. If she sells for the price I want (now need after all this work ) then so be it. If she doesn't then there is a pair of rotary mufflers in her future

The way you just plug them in and out really whizzes me off.
I just can't do things like that anymore.
Though I am on standby to cover a coach tour next week. Only Blackpool but includes a day trip to Bowness on Windermere.

I think that’s how Mackies do it. They flush the warm oil through the oil cooler via their pumpy-squirty machine which has a very fine filter.
