Default 2.8 Exhaust Clamps

Does anyone know the size of the 2 pipes that are between the cats and the centre box on a 2.8 ?
On one of my joints a clamp has failed and its loose, though it does give that "sporty" sound that turns heads lol.

I guesstimate that its 2" but I could be wrong.

mine did a similar trick (though the rest of the 'zaust is in remarkable condition of the age) They have a rather odd strap type fitting arrangement so I took it to a fast fit centre (to see if they had anything that would fix the poor thing) and for a couple of quid i think they put an ordinary exhaust d shackle on it. Couldn't tell you what size it was but it's not caused any trouble for last couple of years. Might be the best option for you?

I had exhaust repaired by a local firm that do custom stainless exhausts. I only needed a relatively short part made up but at some point in the past it has been bodged around the cat flanges and these have been welded. The only way I could se of getting them down would have been dropping the down pipes. At the time I was worried about that area thinking if the cats need replacing the car is a write off (ish)

So I had some new flanges lasered out of steel, in 2 half’s so they could be put around the pipes and then welded together (see doc). Once welded they couldn’t pass over the fluted pipes.

But for the life of me I can’t remember what size they were. I even had extras cut but gave them to the matey who done the job. 2” sounds about right.

I’ve been thinking of having some more cut from stainless plate and replacing all the nuts and bolts with stainless too. Would anyone else want any if I can find any plate?

I popped into a the National exhaust on Paisley Rd west today ,He had a look and found that the 2 bands which go round the small jointing piece had perished and snapped ,the actual joint was in good condition so he threw on a couple of 50mm clamps and all was good ,and the best part was he done it for free !!!
