Default Audi S8 4.2 Quattro S8 Final Edition in Aqua Blue - 2002

Fully documented Audi 2002 S8 Quattro Final Edition. A very rare car with the factory standard 20 inch alloys that really set it apart from other D2 S8s of this vintage. I have owned this car for just under 2 years and spent in the region of £2500 on parts (see history below & the receipts photographed are those solely accrued by me!) with an accompanying equivalent 'labour charge' in the region of £2000-£2500 as I am able to do all the work myself. (I work with Audis and sell VAG parts). Notably I installed Bilstein shock absorbers all round which improve the already impressive handling - it handles and feels like a much smaller & nimbler car !

Interior

Cornflower blue final edition leather seats in very good condition as is the platinum grey dash with the dark mrytle console trim in equally good condition. Heated 14 way adjustable Recaro front seats with driver memory function still offering excellent bolster. Electric adjustable steering column & seatbelt height adjustment. Final edition red S8 steeringwheel. Adjustable sunroof. Satnav system with 2013 European maps with CD multichanger and BOSE sound system. Cruise control. Menu function and trip computers. Factory option mobile phone, cradle and charger. Double glazed glass. Rear screen electric sunblind and rear window sunblinds. Original 1st aid kit and ski bag. Complete tool kit in rear with a circa £1500 option detachable tow bar with trailer light/indicator connectors and full size spare.

Exterior

The Audi Space Frame all aluminium chassis means rust is a non issue and the chassis weighs around 1/2 that of mild steel (the car weighs less than the C5 RS6 !) Aqua blue final edition paint work in good condition. Body panels without dents without any panel gapping or signs of accident damage (HPI certificate will also be provided). Folding polished Aluminium wing mirrors. Bi Xenon head lights with recently replaced bulbs. Front and rear parking sensors.

Wheels, Tyres and Brakes

20 inch alloys with two half tread Avon 4mm ZZ3 front tyres and two rears PZeros 2.5mm tread. Brembo 4 pot front brakes that where overhauled in 2012.

Engine & Transmission

Powerful 4.2 V8 40V 360 bhp that emits a reassuring yet civilised growl when power is required, mated to the 5 speed Tiptronic gearbox (with sport mode) which changes gears seamlessly underpower or cruising via the thumb shifters, semi auto or full automode. Whilst historically a number of these boxes have been the S8s achilles heel (as is for other Audi Qs of this era like S6 & RS6) this later model box behaves perfectly smoothly as it should and benefits from a recent service.

History

- FSH (10 VAG stamps, the rest specialist)
- 176,602 miles
- MOT April 2015
- V5c states 4 previous owners but the reality is there have been 3 previous to me: owner 1 was Audi (demo/show car) owner 2 was a company directors car, owner 3 was another company directors & owner 4 was the same individual. The previous owner laterally transferred it from his company to his own name. Net effect is for most of its life prior to my ownership, the car has been run at cost not an issue through two companies (running costs offset against tax liability) with the previous owner doing many motorway miles, so please do not let its current mileage put you off, these large V8s will go on and on.

Work completed in my ownership

- 18.06.13' : Cambelt and tensioner, engine oil, cam shaft oil seals on both banks, rocker cover gaskets & tensioner gaskets both banks (weaping oil from cylinder head rocker covers - v.common). Gearbox filter and oil change, final-drive O-ring seal and shaft seal, fluid change. Rear diff drive shaft seals replaced both sides, diff fluid changed. New suspension top mount bushes & ARB bushes all round & Bilstein Shock absorbers fitted. Front 4 pot Brembo brakes overhauled with new piston seals and dust covers. Performance brake fluid change to ATE Super Blue. New oil cooler seal kit fitted (leaking coolant from oil cooler, a common issue).

- 14.04.14' : New rear gearbox output shaft seal. New OS / drivers catalytic converter and O2 sensor. Replacement steering rack fitted with new inner & outer track rods. Complete replacement of all front lower and upper suspension control arms (4 each side). 4 wheel tracking and alignment. New outer front CV joints and OS front wheel bearing. New BOSCH Mass Air Flow sensor.

Whilst I am loath to use the cliché 'no expense spared,' in my ownership, that phrase would probably not do justice to all the work I have done, but as it is also my passion, I've been happy to have spent as much of my time working on her than was perhaps sensible! This presents something of an opportunity for the enthusiast looking for a well maintained S8 Final edition with many of the expensive jobs taken care of !

Please call for more details. Viewing by appointment only, location near Alton, Hampshire.

£3650. PX possible.

That's the first FE I've seen where the leather on the steering wheel doesn't match the seats. Was that a 'special order'?

I'll answer for Neil, since I'm online - the old wheel did match the leather but it was discoloured and looked out of place.

As an aside, I've driven this car a fair while ago but in Neil's ownership - you would not know it's done 110k more than mine! It really does drive very well indeed
